EAST MOLINE, Ill. (AP) - Roughly half of the property owners affected by recent flooding near East Moline are pursuing relief through the city’s recovery package.

The (Moline) Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1qfzdQ2) reports that 17 to 20 of the as many as four dozen potential applicants are seeking aid options that include federal money to reimburse them for inspection costs. The money also could be used to repair or replace water heaters and furnaces damaged by the flooding.

The damage came after a strong storm dumped significant rain on the area June 30, and the city pumps along the Sugar Creek levee failed.

East Moline has about $161,000 in federal funds available.
