ALPINE, Texas (AP) - A West Texas man has been charged with opening fire at a house in Alpine in shootings that left one person dead and two wounded.

Brewster County jail records show 28-year-old Alvino Gonzalez of Alpine was being held Wednesday on a murder charge.

No attorney was listed for Gonzalez, whose bond was set at $250,000 over Tuesday night’s slaying of 29-year-old Reymundo Julian Vega. An autopsy has been ordered.

Alpine police are trying to determine what prompted the gunfire that left Vega dead at the scene and two other Alpine men hurt. Both wounded men were transported to a hospital.

Investigators have recovered a gun believed used in the shootings.

Alpine police did not immediately release additional information Wednesday.
