PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Pawtucket teachers have a new contract that includes both wage hikes and increases in their health care costs.

The Pawtucket Times reports (https://bit.ly/1qf9kjy ) the city’s school department and the teachers’ union signed the deal on Tuesday.

It provides raises totaling 6.75 percent through 2017.

The contract also increases insurance co-payments and creates a deductible health insurance plan, which will have teachers picking up a greater share of the cost of their treatment.

It took more than a year of negotiating for the two sides to reach the deal.
