KEWAUNEE, Wis. (AP) - A Chicago area company wants to buy the nuclear power plant that closed last year along the shores of Lake Michigan in eastern Wisconsin.

But, the owners say the plant is not for sale.

That hasn’t deterred RGA Labs, Inc., which will make a presentation to the Kewaunee area community Thursday evening. RGA President Robert Abboud tells WBAY-TV (https://bit.ly/UcgnKY ) his company would pay Dominion tens of millions of dollars in cash for the plant and restart power production. Hundreds of people were employed at the Kewaunee Power Station before it closed.

Dominion says it’s focused on unloading the spent nuclear fuel at the plant and moving on to the next stage of decommissioning. Local residents have been critical of Dominion’s plan to take the full 60 years allowed by the federal government to decommission the power plant.
