DETROIT (AP) - Eight houses awarded to the Detroit Land Bank Authority under the city’s nuisance abatement program will be offered at auction.

City officials announced Wednesday that bidders can tour the houses in the 16-block Marygrove neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

The online auction will be held July 23. Winning bidders will be able to apply for home rehabilitation loans.

Ninety vacant houses in Marygrove have received posted legal notices that they were in violation of city ordinances. The city says owners of 35 houses have signed agreements to fix up the properties and have them occupied within six months.

Several other homes in the neighborhood are nearing the final stages of the lawsuit process. Most of those homes are likely to be added to upcoming auctions, while some may need to be demolished.
