SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Dozens of people have gathered in South Bend to protest the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.

The protesters assembled in downtown South Bend within a few hours of the invasion Thursday, calling for an end to violence in Gaza. Some chanted “It’s not war it’s murder.”

Protester Amal Amouri tells WSBT-TV (https://bit.ly/1nCjra1 ) that Palestinians are living in fear and sometimes go days without water because Israel has cut it off or has bombed water lines.

Some of the protesters say they have relatives living in Palestine.

Israel sent thousands of soldiers backed by tanks into Gaza, escalating a 10-day military operation to try to destroy Hamas’ weapons and ability to fire rockets into Israeli territory. Hamas controls the Palestinian territory between Israel and Egypt.
