WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A motorcyclist being chased by West Des Moines police has died after running into a sport utility vehicle.

Des Moines television station KCCI says (https://bit.ly/1kyYwEV ) the accident occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

An officer spotted the motorcycle and noticed that it matched the description of a stolen bike. The officer tried to catch up to it for a better look at the license plates, but the motorcycle sped off.

The motorcycle soon crashed into the SUV, and police say the motorcyclist died later at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The SUV driver and passenger weren’t injured, but the SUV driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The names of those involved haven’t been released.
