OWASSO, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Supreme Court has agreed to review the case of a former Owasso police officer who was ordered reinstated to the force by an appeals court.

The police department said it fired former Lt. Mike Denton in 2011 for violating the department’s use-of-force policy during the arrest of a suspect on a public intoxication complaint.

An arbitrator ruled that Denton should be reinstated, but a Tulsa County judge overturned that decision. In April, the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals ruled that the district judge shouldn’t have overturned the arbitrator’s ruling reinstating Denton.

The Tulsa World reports (https://bit.ly/1kzbGSy ) that it’s not yet known when the high court will take up the case. Denton’s attorney has said that his client would like to return to the police department.
