HOLBROOK, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing homes while residents were inside.

Suffolk County police say Joseph Schreck is accused of burglarizing two houses in Holbrook and attempting to break into a third.

They all occurred on Wednesday.

The first house was occupied by a 13-year-old boy who saw the suspect carrying items from an upstairs bedroom.

About six minutes later, police say Schreck entered another residence where he was confronted by a 14-year-old boy after the house alarm sounded. The teen yelled and the suspect fled.

Schreck, who lives in Holbrook, was charged with two counts of burglary. He also was charged with attempted burglary for trying to break into another home the same day.

It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
