HORICON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged the parents of a 2-year-old girl with endangering the welfare of a child after a motorist found the toddler walking along an Adirondack road at night.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports (https://bit.ly/1oLJFs2 ) that state police say a motorist spotted the girl around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday along Route 8 in the Warren County town of Horicon, 70 miles north of Albany.

Troopers say the driver eventually took the child to a nearby fire station, where someone believed they knew where the child lived. Troopers took her to her home, where her parents said they thought the girl was inside watching television.

Police say the girl was outside of the house for up to 45 minutes.

The girl’s 26-year-old father and 23-year-old mother were issued appearance tickets for town court.
