LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Recent rains have helped firefighters contain a wildfire in southeastern Wyoming.

Officials announced that the Owens Fire in the Medicine Bow National Forest was 100 percent contained Wednesday afternoon. However, they warned that small pockets of fire remained within the perimeter and could produce smoke or possibly flare up for some time.

The Lake Owen campground and day-use area are back open but the Rail Trail, which runs through the west side of the fire, and Forest Road 517.G, along the north edge of the fire, remain closed.

The fire was discovered on July 7 and eventually grew to 450 acres. The cause is still under investigation.
