SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - A shipping barge has been brought into Sioux City via the Missouri River for the first time in more than a decade.

CF Industries contracted the barge to haul heavy equipment to the Port Neal complex. It arrived on Wednesday.

The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1t9PpQi ) the Port Neal complex is undergoing a $1.7 billion expansion and requires equipment that will be too big to be transported by road or rail. Equipment that arrived Wednesday was assembled in Japan before getting shipped to Texas and moving up the Mississippi River and Missouri River.

CF says it plans to order more barge shipments to the port over the next several months.
