SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Police say two men have been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 62-year-old homeless woman on a Santa Barbara beach.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1sveFTB ) 30-year-old Juan Carlos Herrera Romero and his cousin, 26-year-old Gabino Andres Grande Romero, were taken into custody Thursday on suspicion of rape and other charges.

A police statement says the two men spent Tuesday evening fishing and drinking at Stearns Wharf, where they talked about finding a homeless woman to sexually assault.

Hours later they found the victim camping on the beach with a 69-year-old male companion. Police say the suspects used a knife to subdue the pair, then took turns assaulting the woman.

The two men were booked at Santa Barbara County Jail, each with a bail of $250,000.
