PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona gang task force has made an arrest in an alleged murder-for-hire plot involving a witness in Yavapai County.

An informant approached Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission detectives and told them a woman was being targeted to prevent her from testifying in court.

Authorities say the 26-year-old woman was taking the stand in the case of 28-year-old Pedro Sandoval Flores, who was in custody for assault.

They say he allegedly conspired with Fidel Flores to kill the unidentified woman for $3,000.

GITTEM officials say Fidel Flores allegedly offered an undercover detective $1,000 as a down payment with a promise of the other $2,000 after the killing.

It’s unclear if the men are related.

Authorities say the alleged conspirators were arrested July 9 and the woman was unharmed.
