BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A Buffalo bar manager accused of “launching” an Air National Guardsman down a staircase has been indicted on a second-degree attempted murder charge.

Local media report that an Erie County grand jury on Thursday also indicted 36-year-old Jeffrey Basil on charges of first-degree assault and tampering with evidence. Basil has already pleaded not guilty to other charges in connection with the May 11 bar incident that left 28-year-old William Sager Jr. in a coma.

Sager remains hospitalized.

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said the allegation is that Basil attempted to cause the death of Sager by “launching him down the stairs.”

Basil will be arraigned July 25.

Two off-duty Buffalo police officers who’d been working as outside security were suspended after the incident at Molly’s Pub.
