SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Authorities have identified the corrections officer who fired a gun at Deaconess Hospital when a prisoner waiting for a surgical procedure tried to escape.
Spokane County Detention Services says Sandy Rief has been with the agency for five years. He is on paid leave during the investigation.
No one was injured in the incident on Monday and the prisoner, 26-year-old Cameron A. Trevino, taken into custody.
Trevino was arrested earlier this month for assault with a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
