COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Columbus Crew have announced defender Josh Williams and midfielder Kingsley “Fifi” Baiden have undergone surgery that will sideline them for extended periods.

Williams underwent surgery on Wednesday to remove his first rib due to compression on the vein that was causing clotting problems. He was discharged on Friday and is at home recovering. He will be reassessed in two months.

Baiden is expected to have surgery on his left hip on July 23 to repair a torn labrum that will sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Williams has been placed on the disabled list and will miss a league minimum of six matches. Baiden was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list.
