LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Game and Fish Commission commissioners have approved hunting seasons for migratory birds in the state - including dove seasons.
Commissioners meeting in Little Rock adopted hunting seasons of Sept. 6-Oct. 25 and again from Dec. 20-Jan. 8 for mourning dove and Eurasian collard-dove.
Dove season is considered the unofficial opening of Arkansas’ fall hunting season.
Other seasons approved include Sept. 13-28 for teal; Sept 6-Nov. 14 for rail; Nov. 8-Dec. 22 for woodcock; Nov. 1-Feb. 15 for common snipe; Sept. 1-Nov. 9 for purple gallinule and common moorhen; Sept. 1-15 for the early Canada goose season; and Sept. 20-29 for the northwest Canada goose zone season.
