CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson has hired former quarterback Rodney Williams as a color analyst on the school’s football broadcasts.

The move was announced Friday by the school and Learfield Sports’ Clemson Tigers Sports Properties. Williams will be teamed with first-year football play-by-play announcer Don Munson.

Williams will take over for longtime radio analyst Will Merritt, who was offered the chance to return to the booth but declined.

Williams played for the Tigers from 1985 through 1988 and finished with a career record of 32-10-2. He threw for 4,647 yards, which was then a Clemson career record, and was named most valuable player of the Gator Bowl in 1986 and the Citrus Bowl in 1988.
