WARRENTON, Ore. (AP) - Crews have rescued a 58-year-old man who fell into a ravine near Gales Creek Campground west of Portland.

The Coast Guard says a helicopter crew took the man to a hospital in Portland. He reportedly suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung after falling about 25 feet into a ravine Thursday afternoon.

The helicopter’s blades hit parts of trees while attempting the rescue in rugged terrain with narrow openings.

But the Coast Guard says there was no damage found and rescue crews were able to safety take the man to the hospital.
