HOUSTON (AP) - A capital murder suspect who escaped from a jail in Houston has been recaptured as investigators try to determine how he fled the lockup.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says Jamon Walker was caught Friday after about half an hour on the loose.

A deputy transporting inmates noticed Walker was in an authorized area and told him to stop. Walker ran past the deputy and out of the building.

Patrol deputies apprehended Walker in downtown Houston following a brief foot chase. He’ll now face felony escape charges.

Walker was arrested last July in the investigation of the fatal shooting of Gerald Johnson. Police say Walker was captured driving the victim’s stolen car.

A lockdown of all three county detention facilities during Friday’s escape has been lifted.
