CAPE HATTERAS, N.C. (AP) - Mechanical problems are plaguing the Ocracoke-Hatteras ferry runs.

The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reports (https://bit.ly/1r9XO6X) three trips to Hatteras and four runs to Ocracoke were canceled on Friday. Several runs on the route were canceled on Thursday.

Last week, the Ferry Division of the N.C. Department of Transportation says the channel used for the Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry is still unsafe, meaning the run will continue to use the alternate route.
