STATESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The lead interpreter at Fort Dobbs State Historic Site is hosting an event designed to show people how people made and drank beer in the past.

Frank McMahon is sharing what he’s learned about drinking beer on Friday at Wine Maestro in Statesville.

Those attending will get to taste brews similar to those from 200 years ago. McMahon will explain how each type was made.

McMahon has researched the historic beer brewing process and held demonstrations at various state historic sites. On July 26, McMahon will host a demonstration at Fort Dobbs, where he will actually brew a batch of beer using 18th-century techniques.
