FISHER, La. (AP) - Sabine Parish sheriff’s deputies are investigating a possible homicide in the village of Fisher.

Sheriff Ronny Richardson tells The Times (https://bit.ly/1njLEIx ) a man’s body was discovered Friday in the kitchen of a home destroyed by fire Thursday night. Richardson says the body was found after firefighters responded to reports of the blaze flaring up again.

Deputy Coroner Ron Rivers says authorities know who was supposed to be living in the house but are unable to positively identify the victim because the body was burned beyond recognition.

Rivers says a vehicle owned by the man living in the home was found Friday, parked at an abandoned house in Zwolle. He says it appears an attempt was made to set it on fire, too.

The state fire marshal’s office is also investigating.
