STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi State University has named Bill Broyles as interim vice president of its division of student affairs.

Broyles fills a vacancy created by the departure of Bill Kibler, who was named earlier this month as president of Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.

Broyles has served as the division’s assistant vice president since 2006. It requires approval of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning.

Broyles will oversee the operations of several divisional units, including the departments of admissions and scholarships, police, housing and residence life, recreational sports, assessment and testing services, dining services, as well as University Health Services and the office of the dean of students.
