WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut authorities say a moose has been spotted near Interstate-84 near the Cheshire-Waterbury line and are urging drivers to be cautious.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said Saturday afternoon that environmental police were tracking the moose because of the threat the species can pose to highway safety.

Motorists on the interstate and on local roads in the vicinity of Hall Street in Cheshire were urged to take caution.

Environmental police will try to tranquilize and relocate the animal.

Officials say motor vehicle accidents involving moose can cause serious or even fatal injuries because of their size and weight.
