MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Lauderdale County has been awarded a state grant to deal with illegal dumping.

WTOK-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1r1vFyL) the $21,840 grant came through a program administered by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

The grant can be used to fund efforts to clean up unauthorized dumps, hire waste enforcement officers and establish programs for the collection of solid waste and recyclables.
