WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - Maine students are showing off their work at the Maine Student Film and Video Festival.

The event is being held on Saturday at the Waterville Opera House. It’s part of the Maine International Film Festival, which began last week.

The grand prize winner of the student film competition is York High School student Connor Smith. Organizers say that his short film, “The Mask,” details a boy’s “dream-like experience” after a tragic accident.

Chris Choyce of Fryeburg Academy is the winner of the Huey Student Award for his work, “Camping Misadventures.” The animation offers viewers tips on improving their camping experience.

Organizers of the festival say the judges received 44 submissions from students across Maine for the competition.
