JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - All nine inmates injured in a fight this month in a private prison in Mississippi are out of the hospital and back in prison.

State Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps says Saturday that the final three inmates were released this week from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

The fight took place July 10 in the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility. The prison is operated by a private company, Management and Training Corp.

Epps says both the company and the Mississippi Department of Corrections are continuing to investigate the fight.

He told a federal judge this week that four guards have been suspended. He says authorities believe a man was trying to smuggle contraband into the prison and a fight broke out between inmates who are members of gangs.
