NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Police in New Castle County say they’ve arrested a man who fled from police and was found with hundreds of bags of heroin.

Police say they were patrolling in the area of North DuPont Highway and Christiana Road on Friday when they saw a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Police say they stopped the car and that a passenger attempted to flee on foot.

Police say they caught the passenger and found he was in possession of 521 bags containing nearly 8 grams of heroin as well as almost $1,500 in cash. Police identified the man as 20-year-old Shawn Williams of New Castle.

He was charged with drug offenses and resisting arrest. Williams did not appear to have a listed telephone number.
