SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Fe tennis instructor is facing criminal charges stemming from allegations he carried on a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl.

The New Mexican reported (https://bit.ly/1lfIhNa) Friday that 28-year-old Victor Hugo Villarreal II was released July 8 from Santa Fe County jail on $25,000 bond.

Villarreal faces two felony counts of criminal sexual penetration of a child between the ages of 13 and 18 and one misdemeanor count of enticement of a child.

Villarreal is an instructor at First Serve New Mexico, a nonprofit that provides tennis lessons for more than 100 students from third through 12th grades.

According to a police affidavit, the victim’s mother found text messages on her daughter’s cellphone that indicated an inappropriate relationship.

The victim told police she and Villarreal had sex multiple times.
