NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Officials with Vanderbilt University say the school has purchased the Sony Music building on Music Row in Nashville, near Vandy’s campus.

WTVF-TV (https://bit.ly/1iYMwRC ) reports Vanderbilt officials say administrative staff who work in leased office space surrounding campus will be consolidated in the Sony property and that it will also be used for academic purposes.

The structure was built in 1916 but underwent renovations in 1999.

Vanderbilt already occupies 27,000 square feet of the building, while Sony and affiliated companies take up the rest. Vanderbilt said Sony would lease space in the building for a flexible period of time after closing.
