CARLISLE, Ky. (AP) - Authorities say a firefighter and two women were killed in a vehicle crash in Nicholas County.

According to WKYT-TV (https://bit.ly/1sBQ53z ), state police say 20-year-old Aaron Capps, 20-year-old Kyla Haire and 21-year-old Whitney Morris died when their truck ran off U.S. Highway 68 on Saturday morning.

Investigators believe Capps lost control of the truck and then overcorrected, running off the road and slamming into a tree.

Police said they don’t believe alcohol was involved, but none of the victims was wearing a seat belt.

WKYT reports Capps was a Nicholas County firefighter.

Katie Trussell, a friend of the victims, calls the crash an “awful, terrible tragedy.”
