GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - A custody dispute sparked a high-speed chase between a mother and father in Oregon.

Police say that a 21-year-old mother attempted to ram her children’s father off the road during the chase in Grants Pass on Saturday. But missed and ended up crashing into a power pole, causing a widespread outage.

The woman, Brandy M. Thomas of Washington, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree assault, first-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving among other charges. She was booked into Josephine County jail.

The 23-year-old man crashed into a median. The couple’s children were traveling with the man. No one was seriously hurt.

The Oregonian reports that the chase began after a dispute at a park. Police say the man had just recently received custody of the couple’s three children - ages 1, 2 and an infant.
