TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A man shot and wounded in New Jersey’s capital city has died from his injuries.

Trenton police officers happened to be near the 100 block of Rosemont Avenue when they heard gunshots around 5 a.m. Saturday and saw a large group of people running off in a nearby block.

The officers soon found 23-year-old city resident Jamer Jay Greenfield, who had been shot “multiple times” and was lying on the ground. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No other injuries were reported. But further information on the shooting was not disclosed, including what type of weapon may have been used or how many shooters were involved

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
