PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - Pascagoula is spending $49,000 for a marketing campaign for the city and local events.

The city council this week approved a contract with The Focus Group of Gulfport.

City spokeswoman Anne Pitre tells The Mississippi Press (https://bit.ly/1oR8JxC ) The Focus Group’s presentation to the council included a heavy emphasis on digital media and creative services.

The Focus Group manager/director Allison Brown Buchanan says Pascagoula has already built a strong foundational brand.

Buchanan says Pascagoula has plenty of assets to market, including the river, Horn and Petit Bois islands, ecotourism, the beach, the riverfront, shopping, Anchor Square and parks.

She says the company also will promote events such as the Pascagoula Family Campout, Blues at the Beach, Paddlepalooza, the Zonta Festival and Cruisin’ the Coast.
