CAMERON, La. (AP) - School officials in Cameron Parish have launched a search for a new leader for the school system after accepting the retirement of Superintendent Stephanie Rodrigue.

School Board member Tracy Carter tells The American Press (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) advertising for candidates will begin 23 and the school board expects to hire a new superintendent by September.

Rodrigue had served as superintendent since 2007. She told the board in June that she would retire no later than October.

The school district has fewer than 1,300 students.
