COLLINS, Miss. (AP) - The former chief of the Southwest Covington County Volunteer Fire Department is free on $5,000 bond after his arrest on a charge of grand larceny.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering says in a news release that Jerry Warren was indicted on one count of grand larceny by a Covington County grand jury.

Pickering says Warren was arrested Friday and released on a $5,000 bond.

Pickering says the 41-year-old Warren is accused of embezzling from the volunteer fire department dating back to 2009 by making cash withdrawals totaling $9,450 from two separate bank accounts, while also making unauthorized personal purchases totaling $356.
