TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - The opening of Highway 6/U.S. 278 has been delayed.

The new 10-mile stretch of road that connects Tupelo to Batesville was scheduled to open Monday, but Mississippi Department of Transportation officials said Sunday that recent heavy rainfall has pushed back the date. No new date has been scheduled.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1kLd4kS ) the rest of the four-lane artery has been open for several years from Pontotoc to Oxford and on to Batesville.
