LONGPORT, N.J. (AP) - The Coast Guard has suspended its extensive search for a boater who disappeared after his vessel struck a jetty in southern New Jersey.

The pontoon boat, with two men aboard, hit the rocks on the bay near 11th Avenue in Longport around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. One of the men swam ashore and called police, but the other - 45-year-old Andrew Biddle - could not be located.

Coast Guard Petty Officer David Marin says multiple helicopter and boat crews searched for Biddle for about 18 hours, covering an area of approximately 60 square miles. The search was suspended early Monday night.

The name of the other man on the boat with Biddle has not been released.
