JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - A motorist in Jamestown who initiated a police pursuit by taunting an officer in an unmarked car was arrested with two young children in his vehicle.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger tells KQDJ radio that the 30-year-old man attempted to collide with squad cars during the chase that started about 1:45 p.m. Monday. Edinger says officers did not know that a 5-month-old and a 2-year-old were in the suspect’s car.

No one was injured in the pursuit. The children have been turned over to Stutsman County social services.

The chase started after the man allegedly squealed his tires around the unmarked car and made an obscene gesture to an officer in the car.
