ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A 21-year-old Church Rock man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a man he met on Craigslist earlier this year.

Federal prosecutors say Kevin Martinez entered the plea Monday as part of an agreement that calls for him to be sentenced to nine years in prison followed by a term of supervised release.

Authorities say the two men had arranged a sexual encounter in a secluded area outside Gallup on March 5. According to the plea agreement, Martinez beat up the man and stabbed him several times after being ridiculed. The victim’s body was covered by an old mattress.

The FBI declined to identify the victim, citing U.S. Department of Justice policy.

A sentencing date for Martinez hasn’t been set.
