BOSTON (AP) - There’s no need to stop to pay the toll on the Tobin Bridge.

The bridge’s cashless, all-electronic tolling system was activated just after midnight Monday.

The system is equipped to read E-ZPass transponders. Passenger vehicles with transponders will pay $2.50.

For vehicles without a transponder, a photo of the vehicle’s license plate will be taken, and a bill will be mailed to the address listed in Registry records. The toll for passenger vehicles is $3.

The new system is the first phase in a plan to convert all of state Transportation Department toll facilities to all-electronic systems.
