TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) - A Portland man drowned while fishing Sunday in the Sandy River near Troutdale.

The Multnomah County sheriff’s office says 52-year-old Birtha B. Subba had been fishing with his brother-in-law at Dabney State Park and decided to go upstream.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1n4ppVW ) Subba was swept away by the current. He was spotted floating in the river and pulled ashore but could not be revived.

He was not wearing a life vest.
