PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence police say a man sought in a fatal weekend shooting has turned himself in at police headquarters.

Police say 20-year-old Justice Andrade surrendered Monday on a murder warrant in the shooting of Ty-Shon Perry on River Avenue on Saturday morning.

The say Perry, who also was 20 years old, was outside a home near the intersection of Allston Street shortly before 2 a.m. when Andrade approached on foot, fired at him and fled.

Police say Perry made it back inside the home, but died later at the hospital.

Police say Perry may have been shot by mistake. His family tells The Providence Journal he received an associate’s degree in criminal justice in May and wanted to join the state police.

Andrade is expected to be arraigned Tuesday. It’s not immediately known who is representing him.
