BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - State Rep. Jeff Thompson, a first-term Republican from Bossier City, is seeking a judge’s seat.

The New Orleans Advocate (https://bit.ly/1o1qGNQ ) reports Thompson is seeking the district court judgeship for Division B in the 26th Judicial District, which serves Bossier and Webster parishes.

The office’s current judge, Ford Stinson, is retiring.

In an announcement Friday, Thompson declared his candidacy saying public service is “very important to me, and I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and encouragement to continue to serve our community as judge.”
