BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Much of the infrastructure work is complete for the new baseball stadium in East Biloxi.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1r9Eerm) the city council is expected vote Tuesday whether to award construction of the minor league ballpark to W.G. Yates & Sons.

Two bids were opened July 9. Yates submitted the lowest bid of $32.3 million. Alternatives and deductions of $1.5 million place the base bid at $30.9 million.

State law allows the city to negotiate with Yates.

The new stadium would be located off U.S. Highway 90 across from Beau Rivage Resort.

The Huntsville (Alabama) Stars have been sold and a move to Biloxi for the 2015 season has been approved by the Southern League.

The team’s first home game is scheduled for April 20, 2015.
