RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Funding is available for Virginia localities to address issues related to encroachment of military or security installations.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe says the grants are being supported by $4.36 million from the Virginia Federal Action Contingency Trust Fund.

The fund was created in 2012 to limit risks associated with or offset the adverse impacts of closure, relocation or realignment of federal military or security installations or other federal agencies located in Virginia.

McAuliffe says Virginia’s military installations play a critical role in keeping the nation safe and Virginia’s economy healthy.

Localities that have had or have pending identifiable or measurable negative impacts are eligible to apply for funding. The deadline to apply is July 31.
