CONCORD, N.Y. (AP) - A 46-year-old woman is hospitalized with injuries suffered when she landed in a western New York creek after her husband’s motorcycle was hit by a pick-up truck.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Matthew Yocum of Lancaster was driving his motorcycle Monday afternoon when the pickup’s driver crossed the center line and hit his bike on a bridge over Cattaraugus Creek in the town of Concord, 15 miles south of Buffalo.

Yocum’s wife Barbara was thrown from the bike and fell 30 feet into the creek. Deputies say she was rescued by the pick-up’s driver.

She’s in the trauma intensive care unit at a Buffalo hospital. Her husband was treated for a leg injury.

A second motorcyclist crashed and suffered minor injuries.

The pick-up’s driver was charged with speeding and failure to keep right.
