SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A central Utah wildfire has forced evacuations near the small town of Levan.

Authorities say the blaze is on the south side of the Juab County town, which has about 850 residents.

Eight homes and campsites in a nearby canyon have been evacuated.

The town is about 100 miles south of Salt Lake City and 15 miles south of Nephi.

Authorities say they don’t know what caused the fire that has charred 700 acres.
